The British steamer "Kafue" belonging to the Ellerman
4 Bucknell 8.8. 00. Ltd. bound from New York via the Panama
Canal for Hongkong, Kanila and Singapore arrived here or
August 4th. The Kanifest of her Manila cergo was at once exemired, and cargo consigned to enemy firms in Manila who ar

British Consul-General at Marila pointing out certain cargo
as consigned to smeny firms. The agents were at once informed
that this cargo and certainly other cargo not then ascertained

from Manila the true consigress of all cargo "to order"
in many cases they were able to do.

help afforded by numerous Consular reports on German tradere in
Manila and their fences and all the business directories of
Kanila available, the agents were finally informed that 3565
packages must be detained here for further enquiry. The agents
thereupon decided to lend all the Marila oerge into warehouses,

transhipping such cargo (15487 packages in all) as was allowed
